Save the Family program
Homeless Families Intervention Project
Homeless families have experienced poverty, deprivation, domestic violence, and high rates of mobility, persistent serious conflicts, and chaos. Children in these families are the innocent victims of homelessness and the most vulnerable to its devastating effects. Studies such as "Arizona's Forgotten Children: Promises to Keep" show that children often suffer developmental deprivation, depression, anxiety, behavioral and health problems. What's more, many of these children are at great risk for repeating self-destructive behaviors unless the paradigm is altered. To break the cycle of negative behavior that can be perpetuated from generation to generation, Save the Family pioneered the Homeless Families Intervention Project (HFIP). HFIP provides a safe, consistent, and reinforcing environment for adults and children to learn how to replace survival skills with other pro-social, protective, non-violent life skills vital to their success beyond the program. No other homeless assistance provider provides such comprehensive personal development programs.

Save The Family has benefited several times over the years from Floor Art donations. Wally Slade writes, "Thank you very much for the installation of the carpet in our 605 North Cherry Street. The homeless family, which will live there in just a few days, will think it's like heaven. Your giving attitude will continue to help the homeless families. I wish we had the ability to do more. Thank you again Dave. With warmest regards, Wally Slade"

Thank you from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Arizona
"On behalf of the youth of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Arizona, thank you for your very generous donation in response to our 2006 Telethon. ... Without your continued concern and financial support, our country's future leaders - the youth of Central Yavapai County - would not be able to receive the Boys & Girls Club life skills and values-based program, which has been especially designed for their personal growth and character enrichment during their developmental years." Floor Art recently partnered with Shea Homes and 1,000 other trade partners, completing the building of a new Extreme Makeover home for the parents of Private First Class Lori Piestewa in Flagstaff, Arizona southeast of the Hopi Reservation. Lori was the first native American woman to die in combat in March 2003 when her unit was ambushed in Iraq. Private First Class Piestewa left behind two small children, now 5 and 6 years of age, who are being raised by her parents (previously in their mobile home in Tuba City). Jessica Lynch (POW), Lori's Army friend, nominated Lori's parents to receive the Extreme Home Makeover.
On Monday, April 18, 2005 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Floor Art installed carpet and laminate flooring in several rooms of the new home.

MARICOPA COUNTY SHERIFF’S
DRUG ENDANGERED CHILD (DEC) PROGRAM RV
Floor Art has enthusiastically supported Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department and their Drug Endangered Child (DEC) program to provide a safe environment for children who have been removed from their homes during a drug raid (methamphetamine). Craftsmen from Floor Art have recently completed the installation of new laminate flooring in the 40 foot RV which provides a more sanitary and easily cleanable surface.
Where previously these children (or elderly adults) were often held in uncomfortable surroundings for hours while the suspects were being processed, now the Sheriff’s RV can receive them in a clean, comfortable environment for the purpose of removing the child or elderly adult from the drug scene, providing a medical examination for decontamination (drug testing and lice removal), interviewing, and providing food, clothing and shelter.
Arizona is the first state in the nation to utilize an RV for this purpose. The RV travels to all parts of Arizona plus 30-60 miles into adjoining states. Volunteers from the Sheriff’s Posse staff the RV.
The program is asking for donations from public and private organizations of the following: Camera system to mount onto the RV to see behind the vehicle (OSHA requirement), carpet runners which can be used and removed from the inside of the RV, toys, and clothing (any age and size).
Floor Art would also like to thank Wilsonart for donating the product and partnering on this community service program.
